New bills moving through the Arizona Legislature would expand public infrastructure grant and reimbursement programs to support the growth of manufacturers moving to the state. House Bill 2809 is proposing to change a state program that was originally established in 2013 as a way to reimburse cities up to 80% of costs for public infrastructure needed to support a qualified manufacturing facility. The funds are directed to infrastructure like water, wastewater and roads, which are all critical for large manufacturers that use a lot of water and are located in largely undeveloped areas.
